Cloud Lab I Climate Research Voyage
Academic I Part II Yr5 I 2024
Cloud Lab is a global initiative using hydrogen/helium balloons equipped with lab modules to collect critical climate data. These balloons launch from a central base and silently observe atmospheric changes, capturing real-time data over cities and remote areas. After completing their mission, the base and modules are relocated to a new location, while the balloons continue their journey unburdened.
The project incorporates a park as the base station, combining climate education with recreational spaces. Lightweight steel structures and inflatable enclosures house the labs, and once the project concludes (within 2-3 years), the upgraded park facilities remain for local benefit. This initiative fosters global collaboration and raises public awareness of climate resilience.
